About this Custom Number paint

Curtis Turner - 1965 American 500 - 75 Years: The Moments. During NASCAR’s inaugural Strictly Stock season, Curtis Turner quickly rose to prominence as one of the sanctioning body’s first stars. Turner won a race and a pole on the 1949 calendar and was voted most popular driver. Turner’s hard-charging style netted wins throughout the 1950s but clashes with NASCAR brass found him banned from the sport in 1961. The final straw came when Turner attempted to organize a driver’s union to bargain for better pay and retirement benefits. Bill France, in a bind with sagging attendance and unhappy promoters, relented by 1965 and the fan-favorite was reinstated. By this time, few considered the aging Turner capable of wheeling the fast modern cars. Turner proved the doubters wrong however, winning in his seventh start back in the American 500, the first race at the new North Carolina Motor Speedway in Rockingham. This paint represents the number 41 Ford as it appeared for the Wood Brothers on that day. The 75 Years project is a series of paints dedicated to the history of NASCAR racing.
