About this Custom Number paint

Davey Allison - 1988 Daytona 500 - 75 Years: The Moments Two drivers entered the 1988 Daytona 500 as favorites, and they happened to be family. Bobby and Davey Allison lit up Speedweeks ‘88, but it was Ken Schrader who snuck to the top of the leaderboard in qualifying. Davey Allison had qualified second, but an incident in final practice damaged the fast Ford and sent the Harry Ranier team scrambling. An all-nighter meant the car was fixed for the race, but the car stalled leaving the grid. The team got the car moving in time to retain the second starting position, but early on, the car did not seem capable of leading. As competitors fell by the wayside, Davey’s car grew stronger and up to second place in the closing laps. He just had one car left to pass, his own father Bobby. The two dueled for the final laps and Davey made a move in the final turn. It wasn’t to be however as Bobby Allison used the high line to motor to the finish line first. This paint represents Davey’s number 28 Texaco Havoline Ford as it appeared on that day. The 75 Years project is a series of paints dedicated to the history of NASCAR racing.
