About this Custom Number paint

Harry Gant - 1991 Goody’s 500 - 75 Years: The Moments Harry Gant earned his Mr. September moniker during the 1991 season, winning everything in sight in both Winston Cup and the Busch Series. Gant, then age 51, began the streak by winning the Southern 500 on September 1. Gant picked up Cup and Busch wins along the way at Richmond and Dover before attempting the rare feat of four Cup wins in a row at Martinsville’s Goody’s 500. Gant started tenth, but worked his way through the field throughout the early stages of the race, taking the lead by lap 171. Gant led the majority of the day, but a lap 373 incident saw Rusty Wallace tangle with Handsome Harry, sending Gant into the wall and seemingly out of contention. Gant, no stranger to adversity at Martinsville after recovering from an accident to win his first career cup race there in 1982, fought back throughout the closing stages, before retaking the lead on lap 454 and cruising to victory. This paint represents Gant’s Skoal Bandit number 33 Oldsmobile as it appeared driving for Leo Jackson at Martinsville that day. The 75 Years project is a series of paints dedicated to the history of NASCAR racing. Follow me for updates: twitter.com/iam27paul
