About this paint

Ready? FIGHT! My love letter to Japanese brands. Complete with a Toyota badge that I’ve transformed into a Hadouken fireball flying forward along the nose piece. Pop culture trivia #1: in Street Fighter 2’s iconic Bonus Stage mini-game where you kick the shit out of a stationary sedan, it is in fact a Lexus LS 400 that you’re beating up. Yet, in Japan, that car was called the Toyota Celsior. Due to existing brand strength domestically, Toyota didn’t see a need for a separate luxury brand for the Japanese market until 2005, which was 26 years after they first started producing the Lexus brand for international markets. You’ll spot both badges on the car. Pop culture trivia #2: Akuma’s name in Japan is Gouki. The kanji on his back means “sky”, “heaven”, and “providence.” A definition of providence includes divine guidance, and timely preparation for future events. As such, you’ll see that kanji at the highest point of the rear wing end plate, positioned above your car number. “Are you prepared?” - Gouki
