About this paint

The “Mr. Horsepower” legacy began in the early 1930’s with camshafts that were literally hand-ground by clay Smith to high performance specifications. His technical expertise was recognized by the industry and racers were mesmerized by the overall performance of his products. Although he specialized in camshafts, his high performance engines were setting world speed records. He raced Joe Guess’s Hydro boat and during this time a friend of theirs drew a characterization of Clay Smith – which is the now the very famous “Mr. Horsepower Logo”

As a kid I always helped my father building hot rods and going to car meets across the country. In 1987 I started Viking Hot Rods in Vernon Vermont. 1977 was my first Daytona 500 and then again in 1978. In 1994 I went to my first F1 race in Montreal Canada, and then went back for the next 2 years. I went to the first two F1 races in Indianapolis. Saw both Indy cars and NASCAR, at Louden NH. A bunch of World sports car-DP-LMP and historic races. I've been to Bonneville 5 times. A few World Of Outlaws races, a bunch of local 1/4 mile oval track races and drag races. I still need to get to a Top Fuel race.
